The Heart of a God’s Kingdom on Earth

Sarah’s Home by Vicky Whedbee is an imagined God’s kingdom on earth. The characters resemble the nature of the Samaritan traveller in The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37).

Sarah’s Home is a safe haven built by Millicent Thornton to reflect the love for hurting people that Sarah had shown in her life. Here abused victims, who have completely withdrawn from the real-world, experience patience and love. Even neglected and abused teen age boys who are on the verge of rebellion find unexpected acceptance. The caregiver characters illustrate what one might find in God’s kingdom on earth.

The bonus in this narrative is that readers learn more about the history of abused individuals. From that one can understand why they have been so tormented and how a community is more connected than what appears on the surface.

Are there such thoughtful people like that in the world? I like to think so. Certainly, there is in Vicky Whedbee’s mind and for that I thank her. It is a pleasure to read about people who create a loving environment.

If you enjoy seeing an element of God’s kingdom come to life, then you must pick up Sarah’s Home.

Well done, Vicky.
